This IEP is a fine example of a great plan when a special educator and a general educator come together for their student. In it, I demonstrate my ability to work across the board with a special educator, Emily Kuiper, to create an ideal Individualized Education Program (IEP) for our case student "Tony". This collaboration is incredibly important to any educator with a shared student.

Students with IEPs start to work on their Transition Plan as early as 14. This plan helps them to transition from high school to beyond. That might mean college, independent living, and/or preparing for a job. In this case study on "Aaron" I demonstrate what a Transition Plan looks like and how an educator can help students beyond their k-12 education.

After teaching in a district that offered professional development on trauma and toxic stress, I was inspired to do further research. This presentation shows my dedication towards informing other teaching professionals about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), how they affect a student and their ability to learn, and how to best teach and care for that student.

In this short essay, I reflect my creation of a safe place in a kindergarten classroom. My experience with this project changed the way I think about trauma-informed teaching forever. Through this essay, you can see how I am both mindful of the experiences of various students and how I use that information to take action to provide a safe environment for them.

Stop-Think-Paraphrase is a great tool that I used for a student who is struggling with reading comprehension. This lesson shows how I helped "Lily", who reads slightly below grade level, improve her comprehension on a grade level text by using the reading strategy "Stop-Think-Paraphrase".

Reading Assessments are a great way for a teacher to play detective and find the best way to help a reader grow. In this project, I've used several different reading assessments that you might want to use in order to find the best way to help my student "Lily".

This interview highlights my ability to communicate with a parent of a special education student. I used background that his mom shared with me in order to be a better teacher for him and to understand him better. This shows how I use all the tools that I have available to learn about my special education students and how to teach to the indiviudal.
